Jumping in Puddles

Our snow is finally starting to melt – plus, we got an entire day of rain.  That adds up to a lot of water.  Which in Jace’s eyes translates to only one thing – PUDDLE JUMPING TIME!  We waited all day for Adam to get home from work (didn’t figure drizzly weather was ideal for Lukas, also didn’t figure he’d like the jumping).  When Adam got home, we put on boots and headed outside.  And we JUMPED IN PUDDLES!  Jace had such a great time!  He’d do running jumps, standing jumps, jumps with countdowns, and lots of together jumps (where we jump at the same time).  By the time we headed inside he was soaked from the waist down.  But he had a great time!

Today was quite the day.  Two nights ago was a great night.  I went to bed early.  Both kids slept pretty well.  And we slept in a tiny bit, thanks to the white noise of the rain.  Last night was a different story all the way around.  I went to bed late, we were up often during the night, and we were up for the day at 5:30am.  Sigh!  When your day starts at 5:30am, you have a LOT of hours to fill….  So we played with Legos.  Then we made paperplate ice skates and Jace skated around the house.  Then we played with Legos again.  We played with the play kitchen.  We had a snack.  And we played with Legos.  We did some laundry.  And then we played with Legos!

Finally, I had to get out of the house.  We loaded Luke into the Ergo carrier and we headed to Weis.  Jace was pretty disappointed that our muddy puddle from yesterday had disappeared and been replaced with a bunch of wet dirt.  But we found plenty of snow piles to jump in, snowy expanses to run through, and even a few puddles to splash in.  By the time we got to Weis, he was soaked again.  I need to remember to try and dry out his shoes….  Lukas, on the other hand, was warm and cozy.  I love the Ergo.  We grabbed a few items at the store, then headed home.  It was our first non-doctor-related excursion and it went really well.  And it was great to get Jace out of the house.  He haa so much energy.  I foresee lots of walks to Weis in our future!

  1. Those paper plate ice skates are such a cool idea! I’ve never heard of them. But I have heard of jumping in puddles, and he looks so cute and happy! You are doing such a good job of handling any early sibling jealousy, SR. It’s beautiful to see how much Jace loves his little brother.
