We have had two days in a row of non-stop rain. Rain, rain, rain. That severely limits our walking to Weis….!
To pass the time, we headed to Crayola with our friends. We love it there! Plus, Jace is taller this winter, so he’s able to do activities he couldn’t do before. His new favorite attraction is the crayon boats. You guide your boat along the river and use the doors and gears to open and close locks. It’s pretty cool and Jace loves it. Of course, that doesn’t compare with his all-time favorite-ever activity…. Riding elevators. There was almost no one at Crayola on Tuesday, so we were able to ride the elevator up and down (and up and down and up and down) uninterrupted for a good 15 minutes. He was so excited!
Jace likes all the new holiday decorations. We hung lights on the house on Monday (took us hours, but we had it all done before Adam got home!). Then we got out the carousel. I haven’t put candles in it yet, but Jace calls it a merry-go-round and is constantly asking to play with it. He likes to spin it really quickly, then talk to the animals and people as they fly past. The bottom level is a camel and three wise men. Jace calls the camel a horse. His conversation usually goes like this – “Horse, where going? Oh! Going to Weis! Good. Keep walking. Doing great!” It cracks me up every time.
In other kitchen news, Jace has discovered “tiny oranges”. They’re the best. I can’t peel them fast enough for him, though…. We’ve gone through 11 lbs of them in the past 7 days. Seriously. He’s learning how to peel them now, too, which is fun. It’s a healthy snack, right?
Speaking of healthy snacks…. Three days ago, Jace and I had pancakes for breakfast. Yum. Two days ago, Jace and I had pancakes with chips (chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips). Yesterday, Jace and I had pancakes with a lot of chips. And today? Today, he pretty much had a plate of chips. Hmmmmm. He asked for pancakes. Then explained that chips are better. Ha! Can’t fault that logic, but we did discuss how tomorrow we’re limiting the number of chips in our pancakes – or we’re going back to breakfast burritos!
Lastly, we finally decorated our tree! Jace was into it! He hung the first ornament nicely. The second ornament was a bell, so he was pretty happy about that. The third ornament was declared “not a bell” and got tossed into the branches. Oops. After that, he just hung the ornaments as quickly as possible. You’ll notice, in the picture, that there’s quite a pile of ornaments on the tree skirt underneath the branch by Jace. He didn’t quite understand how to hang them on the tree, so he placed them on the branches. He’d turn away to get a new ornament, and the other one would fall to the ground. Oh well, it was cute and he had a great time. He even helped Adam put the star on the top of the tree! And now we’re officially decorated for Christmas!
