Grandma and Grandpa came to visit! And we had tons and tons of fun and I ended up with tons and tons of pictures. That’s why it’s taken me so long to post!
In-between those two activities, Jace got to play in the rain. Grandma asked what Jace wanted to do. He said “outside!” so they headed outside. A little (lot) of rain couldn’t stand in the way of picking tomatoes…. Or of opening and closing the garage door!
While we waited for the rain to stop, Jace showed off his counting skills and his block stacking ability. He was so excited every time the tower would topple!

Eventually the rain stopped, so Jace got a chance to go jump in puddles. That’s always a favorite activity!

The animals were fun, but the kid zone with the giant magnifying glasses was still Jace’s favorite part. A close second was standing at the bridge by the Lemur exhibit and throwing berries into the water below!
After lunch, we headed for Klein Dairy Farm! Jace and I had been wanting to go all summer, but I was either feeling too queasy for farm smells or the weather was just too darn hot to spend that much time walking around outside. But Sunday afternoon was a great day for the farm! Jace came face-to-face with a bunch of animals. And he discovered that just about all the animals were excited to eat leaves from his hand.
When the goats would get a bit aggressive, Grandma would hurry Jace down the fence. And Leslie would climb a tree (haha). It was a little funny to have goats with pointy horns just wandering around next to you…. And eventually Jace and Leslie became friends with the scary goat.
Next it was time for the corn maze. It was pretty cool! The maze route was pretty wide, so it wasn’t a scary corn maze. Though I don’t remember corn stalks being so tall! The maze ended at the playground, so Jace was thrilled. He played peek-a-boo through the window on the plastic house over and over. And over and over. Cute!
After quite a while, we left the playground and headed to the hayloft. It was gigantic! Soooo much hay! Jace of course had to climb on all the hay bales and scramble to the top of the stacked area to look out the window. Grandma helped him jump, jump, jump back down to the ground.
And then it was on to the cows! Jace wasn’t too sure at first, but he came around (a tiny bit) eventually. Then we saw the dairy cows. Those cows are huge! Jace had no interest in petting them…. Instead he held tight to Grandpa’s hand and hurried out the side door!
When we got back to the car we were all pretty tired. And Jace, who hadn’t napped in about a month, was asleep almost immediately. Even the promise of apple juice and cookies wasn’t enough to keep him awake! He took a short nap, but the fatigue carried over to the next day. Despite several middle-of-the-night wake ups, Jace was sound asleep at 9:30am!
For some reason, I thought it would be smart to schedule a dentist appointment while my parents were in town. I figured it would be more fun for Jace to play with his grandparents than to watch me get my teeth cleaned. Which was probably true. What I didn’t consider was how sad it would be to watch them head to the park while I got in the car and headed to the dentist! But they took pictures and told me stories about their park adventure when I got home. Looks like they had fun.
Later that afternoon, we walked to Weis so Jace could show Grandma and Grandpa how he gets his cookie for the Cookie Club. He did a great job walking to the store, rode happily in the car cart while we shopped, but didn’t want to walk all the way home. Grandpa saved the day and gave Jace a fun lift home. Jace especially liked it when they’d walk under trees and the leaves would touch his face!
On Tuesday, Adam took a day off from work (yay!) and we headed to the beach (yay again!). We had a really fun picnic on the beach. The weather was warm, but not hot. The breeze was great. And we were at the ocean!!!!
He wasn’t so sure about the first wave that got his toes, but eventually he started to really like it. He would tell the waves to come “get us” and he seemed disappointed when a wave wouldn’t make it to our feet.
When we got tired of waiting for the waves, Adam was there to spin Jace in circles. He loooved it! And when Adam was too dizzy to spin any more, a helicopter flew by overhead and provided a great distraction!
When it was time to pack up and head for the boardwalk, Jace didn’t want to go. He lay down in the sand and kept whispering “bye beach, bye ocean”. Very cute. Luckily the promise of the arcade was motivation for him to help us pack up.
Turns out we went to the arcade during the two-hour, half-price summer special! Awesome! Plus, Jace hit the jackpot on the very first attempt at the very first game we played. He won 500 tickets worth 10 points each. That equates to a LOT of “prizes” at the prize counter!
After winning so many tickets, Jace was pretty happy to let the rest of us play that silly and addictive pirate game for a while. And when it’s half-price time, your money lasts twice as long. Yippie! It’s pretty nice that Jace is so entertained by shoving plastic disks into the card readers or by driving the cars without inserting any coins!
The next evening, Grandma and Grandpa baby-sat while Adam and I went on a dinner date. Fun, fun! During the day, we went to the store and Jace got a fun new toy from his grandparents. He has these Vtech Smart Animals that he loves to play with and last year for Christmas he got the zoo playset. It’s been great and he uses it almost daily. But, with the number of animals he has, he gets frustrated when the animals all stack up on the ramp. Turns out they sell extra track for the system. And that makes a super fun toy even more fun! Plus, Grandma and Grandpa bought Jace the farm playset for all the new farm animals his Grandma Cherie sent. He was super excited. I only have the one picture now, but my next post will include a lot more pictures of this toy. Because he has played with it for hours and hours and hours in the past week!
I’m not sure which day this video goes with, but I thought it was a good one. Jace loves to pretend to talk on the phone. Anything can be a phone – a remote control, the garage remote, a small box, an actual phone, a toy phone, a calculator…. You get the idea. His conversations are pretty short and usually just involve “Hello?” and “Bye!”, but it’s still cute!

Lastly, the morning Grandma and Grandpa had to leave, we headed to Force Sports Academy for the Lunch Time, Fun Time program. Jace had a LOT of energy! He was running all over the place. He played chase with Grandma for a while before deciding to work on his arm strength with Grandpa….
Jace would ask for a boost up to the bar, hang for a while (without you holding him), then randomly let go and fall. It was a work out because he didn’t like you to hold him before he dropped, but you had to catch him before he hit the mat. He thought it was tons of fun!

After the gym, we grabbed Dunkin Donuts (he earned it!) and dropped Grandma and Grandpa off. Jace was pretty distracted by the sprinkles on his donut, but he definitely missed his grandparents once the donut was gone…. It was a great visit!
