Some pictures from the week….
Jace likes t-ball. And his form is getting much better. But lately he has discovered that he can use the “plate” as a pitching mound and throw the ball to Daddy. It’s cute. A bit of a risky game though, ’cause sometimes Jace gets really close to the bat before he releases the ball!
Jace loooooves Daniel Tiger. We need to get a video of him saying “tiger” and “trolley”, because it’s totally adorable. He watches a little bit of PBS Kids while I clean up after breakfast and take my shower. It used to be Elmo, but now it’s all Daniel Tiger! Jace is also very excited about being “tall”. He likes to climb on top of anything and everything. When we go to the park, he pushes his trike to the water fountain so he can get a drink. Once he climbs up, he proudly announces “tall!”
Jace is a great helper! Our neighbor was bagging some excess grass clippings, and Jace was VERY excited to help. He followed her around the whole yard bringing her handfuls of grass. And later, when we were walking home from the grocery store, Jace insisted on carrying the grocery bag. I’m not sure “helpful” is the right word this time though…. The bag was heavy so we had to take most of the groceries out of the bag. And then Adam had to carry them all by hand while Jace carried his special dessert treat in the bag. He was very excited about his treat. He kept stopping and peeking in the bag to make sure it was still there. It was a slow walk (lots of dragging/kicking of the bag too), but it was fun. When we got to the end of the path and started into our cul-de-sac, Jace grabbed my hand and pulled me down to his level. He said “Mama?” Then he said “happy,” and smiled at me and gave me a hug. So cute! He’s the best.
Our latest “toy” is a mini pool! We’ve gone to pool playdates at friends’ houses and Jace is pretty reluctant to climb into the kiddie pools. I figured maybe if we got a tiny one, he’d get used to it. The first day we had it, he climbed in – fully dressed – TWICE! He loves his pool. There’s an inflatable banana that he likes to play with, bite, and feed to the monkey. The weather has been really warm lately, so the pool has been great!
We recently did a painting playdate with our friends Becky and Ella. It was cute! Getting a picture of both kids with their finished masterpieces was really difficult though…. Plus, we’d tell Jace to hold up his painting so we could see it, and he’d hold it over his head! Funny, but difficult for a picture!
Lastly, here’s a video from right after Adam got home from work. Jace and I are typically in the front yard when Adam gets home. Jace sprints down the driveway to see Adam yelling “Daddy, Daddy!” Since it’s been so hot lately, Adam routinely stops for a Slurpee on the way home. As soon as Jace sees the cup, it’s all he can focus on. He needs a “sip” immediately! So here’s the typical Adam/Jace exchange. (One note – when Jace says “Daddy”, he often crosses his arms in front of his chest – apparently that’s the Daddy-pose!).
