O Canada!

Jace is now an international traveler!IMG_2980

Wednesday afternoon we started our drive up to Toronto.  It was a pretty drive – lots of the trees were starting to change color as we drove north.  But the best part of the drive is that our WONDERFUL TRAVELER was back!  As I mentioned, Jace didn’t have the best time in the car on the drive to/from the beach when Grandma and Grandpa were in town.  I was a little nervous about the 6.5 hour drive up to Toronto.  But Jace did GREAT!  He played with toys in the backseat, ate a zillion pretzels, and was super cheerful during our Taco Bell dinner stop.  In fact, he was so friendly at Taco Bell that when we left the restaurant EVERYONE in the entire dining room waved to Jace and said “bye-bye”.  Jace smiled and waved back.  Very cute!

Niagara Falls is definitely one of the top attractions on our list.  I knew we wouldn’t have time to do much at the falls during our drive up, but I wanted to stop anyways.  I don’t think we’ll be out after dark very often this trip, so we took the opportunity to check out the falls at night.  They were really pretty.  And huge.  And loud.  And misty.  I’m excited to go back and see them during the daytime!

Today was a Toronto day.  We had breakfast at our hotel (amazing – they even have snack pack sized blocks of cheese that are perfect for Jace!) then headed to the downtown area to check out Ripley’s Aquarium.

Jace enjoyed wandering around the aquarium (there were lots of ramps and he liked walking up and down and up and down and up and down).  He also liked pointing at fish and pushing all the buttons on the displays.  The buttons were great because they made bright lights flash, movies play, and colors change, so Jace loved it.IMG_3003 IMG_3017IMG_3056 (2) IMG_3066

They had a kid area where you could crawl through a tunnel in the middle of an aquarium.  It was pretty cool!  It took a few passes before Jace showed any interest in the sharks he was crawling over/under.

The highlight of the visit was a huge aquarium with a moving walkway through the middle.  Jace liked the walkway.  Adam and I liked all the fish! IMG_3067

After almost 2 hours, Jace let us know that he was absolutely done at the aquarium.  It was close to naptime, so we got him in the stroller and headed out for a walk.  And we walked.  And walked.  And walked.  And Jace didn’t fall asleep.  Finally we gave up on the nap.  We got Tim Horton’s donuts (Blue Jays!) and had a picnic in the park.

Eventually it was time to head to the Blue Jays game.  And that is when Jace decided to fall asleep.  Of course!  We weren’t allowed to have the stroller in the stands, so we walked around the stadium for a while, then hung out in the standing room section so Jace could get a decent nap.  It’s a nice stadium, but there were barely any people at the game!  Adam and I both took panoramic photos.  Adam’s is cool because it really shows the field (and the empty stands).  Mine is cool because Adam’s in the start of my picture and then walked to the other side of me to check on Jace and accidentally ended up in the second half of my picture too.  I think it’s funny.

After Jace woke up, we headed back to our seats.  The usher was incredibly nice to us and got Jace a Blue Jays coloring book.  Jace colored for a while, pointed out lots of airplanes, and played with Adam’s sunglasses.  Fun day.  Off to Niagara tomorrow!
